Old Co-Op in Shiremoor, in a delightful shade of blue. The road to the right is 'Co-Operative Terrace'.

My Dad, Jimmy Cowan, worked here from the age of 9. He started on the milk round and worked his way up to the grocery van, delivering supplies to Shiremoor and Backworth areas. He used to look after the horses when they were used before the age of the motor vehicle. I think his favourite was a dark horse called Star who was a bit bad tempered and naughty but my Dad always told stories about him when I was young. I'm proud of my Dad.
